There is no denying Polly’s country roots, she grew up on a farm in country WA, listening to Dolly Parton. Polly earned multiple wins in the ‘WAM Song of The Year’ Awards, including a WAMi nomination for Country artist of the Year with her debut album “Easier to Run” – but that’s where the pure country stopped.
Polly’s new songs sway into the alt-country / rock / indie crossroads, The new EP Hotel Loves was recorded with producer Andy Lawson at Debaser Studio and features heartbreak tales of love gone wrong, screwing things up and wearing the scars to prove it. The single ‘Banged Up’ track received a nomination in the WAM Song of The Year 2012 Awards.
The Polly Medlen Band have been getting plenty of form on the live circuit , gathering a bunch of working dog musicians (Nigel Bird & Willem Lieftink) plus the inclusion of guitar slinging Lee Jones (The Sun Orchestra & The Sleepy Jackson/Eskimo Joe-live band, Ruby Boots) for gigs over Perth and throughout regional WA. Over the past year and they’ve lined up with Perth faves Abbe May, Split Seconds, The Ghost Hotel, supported Kasey Chambers, and played the successful ‘State of the Art’ festival.
